From our strongest field of bid candidates to date, four cities were selected in September as finalists to host the 2020 MLQ Championship. Since that announcement, the MLQ team has invested countless hours following up with the cities, conducting site visits and evaluating the experience each bid could bring to the league and our players.

After completing the bid process and the analysis that followed, it is our pleasure to announce that Howard County, Md.–in partnership with Visit Howard County–has been selected to host the 2020 MLQ Championship on Aug. 15-16.

“I’m extremely excited that we are bringing MLQ to Howard County. The county has been incredibly welcoming to us in every way,” said Commissioner Ethan Sturm. “Every last detail of the Troy Park complex, from the press boxes to the support structures, was so carefully designed that I know we will be able to run our most successful championship yet. I cannot wait for our players, fans and staff to come and experience everything Howard County has to offer.”

Howard County, the center of the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Region, consistently tops Money Magazine’s list of best places to live in the U.S. It boasts a diverse and inclusive community, scenic landscapes and a variety of small businesses.

The event site will be Troy Park, the site of the 2018 USQ Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship. Operated by Howard Country, it is a state-of-the-art facility offering four lighted, full-sized turf soccer fields; an elevated press box and plentiful spectator seating. It is just a 16-minute drive from the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and within three miles of each of the potential Stay and Play hotels.

Pre-sale tickets for the 2020 MLQ Championship will go on sale Dec. 1. Keep an eye on mlquidditch.com and MLQ social media for more updates.
