We currently have two openings for this role. One for the Benepe Cup (primary event during MLQ Championship weekend) and one for Take Back the Pitch and the Next Gen Showcase (secondary events during MLQ Championship weekend).
The MLQ Tournament Manager will be responsible for coordinating tournaments such as the Benepe Cup, Take Back the Pitch, and/or the Next Gen Showcase from the initial planning stages until the completion, including any required post-event wrap up and debriefs. The tournament manager will be responsible for making initial, intermediate, and final calls with the host city in order to plan the headlining event.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with the MLQ Gameplay Director and other necessary parties to create and maintain event schedule.
• Alert relevant staff of the activities and help to coordinate all necessary staffing levels and duties.
• Perform any other tasks requested by the MLQ Events Directors and MLQ Commissioners.
• Develop and maintain contacts (new groups, previous groups, local businesses, civic organizations and charity groups) relevant to the event(s).
• Maintain accurate records for the event(s).
• Coordinate inter-departmental support for the event(s).
• Work with the MLQ Marketing Department to promote the event(s).
• Prepare and distribute information pertaining to the event(s), including but not limited to critical dates to staff, players, group, and spectators.
• Assist with the check-in of players at the event(s).
• Responsible for assisting in the process of interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining assigned associates, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Manage department members that may include, but are not limited to: MLQ Hospitality Lead and MLQ Volunteer Lead.
• Working with the appropriate parties to monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
• Perform other duties as required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Strong organizational, excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
• Positive interpersonal skills required.
• Experience creating and managing a budget.
• Google Suite proficiency required.
• Excellent listening and comprehension skills required.
• Ability to set and meet deadlines required.
• Experience as tournament director or assistant tournament director at past quadball events preferred.
• Must be a non-player for MLQ Championship. May be a Take Back the Pitch player if applying for the Benepe Cup role.
• Must be able to attend MLQ Championship each August.
