This position reports directly to MLQ’s Marketing Director. The MLQ Public Relations Manager will be predominantly responsible for building and managing MLQ’s reputation. This includes: building MLQ’s industry contacts; achieving brand placement in articles/shows; managing media endorsements and experiential marketing; leading media crisis management; and uncovering opportunities to enhance the presence of MLQ in the sports industry and beyond.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the MLQ Marketing Director to drive ideation, development, and management of MLQ’s overall communications strategy across brands and programs.
- Proactively elevate MLQ’s visibility via digital and traditional media, social media, influencers, partnerships, and events.
- Coordinate public relations personnel in developing, strategizing, and finalizing a comprehensive public relations strategy that supports MLQ values, encourages audience engagement, and aligns with brand goals for the year.
- Work with the MLQ Press Manager to lead media crisis management: proactively strategize, troubleshoot, and create solutions.
- Develop and manage an overarching PR plan and calendar for MLQ.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with influencers, publicists, and industry-relevant parties.
- Ensure MLQ is making the most of all opportunities to implement and communicate MLQ’s brand messages, mission and philosophy while increasing awareness of the brand.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- 1+ years in public relations, media crisis management, communications, sales, or related field.
- 1+ years in a leadership role at an organization, job, project, or club.
- Experience in driving communications programs, events, and/or partnerships.
- Excellent at pitching. Extremely persuasive.
- Demonstrated understanding of modern marketing (digital, CRM, experiential, and social).
- Experience in execution of a brand vision required.
- Experience with creation and distribution of press releases.
- Approximate work commitment will vary dependent on time of year and league activities.
- Google Suite proficiency required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in all forms and at all levels, including writing.
- Professional and creative.
- Stays cool in an emergency.
- Proven success with building a strong network and quality relationships with (especially with the media) preferred.
