We are actively watching and evaluating the COVID-19 impact regarding the 2020 MLQ season. As of today, none of our series are cancelled nor have their dates changed, however, we do have a backup schedule prepared that condenses our season, if needed.

At this time, we ask that all interested athletes submit video tryouts. In the event an athlete does not have the requested footage available, they should reach out to the coach of their desired team–team contact information can be found here. Our coaches are more than willing to work with all interested parties to come up with alternative submission requirements, as needed.

We recognize this is a challenging and unprecedented time both in quidditch and the world, as a whole. Many leagues have already had to postpone or cancel seasons and/or individual events. Like these leagues, we, at MLQ, remain deeply committed to the safety of our athletes, officials, spectators, staff and volunteers, as well as the communities that surround us and our franchise cities.

I want to thank our athletes, staff and volunteers that have been with us through the years and offered their continual support. Together, we created a continental league recognized around the world, and, together, we will keep this sport alive.

As those of you involved in MLQ already know, it takes a village. And it will take all of us doing our part to get through this pandemic. Read up on CDC and WHO guidelines. Practice social distancing. Take only what you need, and leave some for others. Reach out to your friends via phone or social media just to check in.

It is our every intent to give you MLQ in 2020. I promise you, we will do everything in our power to make this season happen. However, this will not be done at the cost of anyone’s health. Keep an eye on our website and social media for continuous updates as we take this challenge one day at a time.

Cheers,

Amanda Dallas
Co-Commissioner
