For the 2020 MLQ season, official MLQ team dues will be rising from $900 plus permitting fees to a total of $1,290 (CAD 1730). These dues sum to a total of $43 (CAD 58) per player for a full 30-person roster. This is the first time since 2016 that MLQ has raised team dues.
These changes are necessary to facilitate the increase of the per-game payment for athletic trainers and EMTs from $10 to $15; facilitate the ability to provide each MLQ manager* with a nominal fee of $200 to $250 for the season; and internalize, streamline and equalize the process to secure field permits for regular season series.
“We’re very excited to introduce a nominal fee for the league’s managers this upcoming MLQ season. This is a huge step in the right direction and one which we look forward to building upon in the future,” said Commissioner Amanda Dallas. “The managers are the franchises’ liaisons to the leagues, cities, fans and potential MLQ athletes. Their actions are absolutely critical to the league’s success, and we’re happy to be able to provide them with this.”
MLQ prides itself on making the regular season affordable and accessible to every interested player, and we believe that $43 per player is a very reasonable price. Please see below how those dues compare to some other similar organizations/sports.
