After a successful 2019 season, Major League Quidditch will return all 15 franchises. However, as our spectators, athletes and staff know, we are always on the lookout for opportunities to grow. With that in mind, we are taking the opportunity to survey the Northwestern U.S. and Western Canada in an effort to evaluate new areas that may be opportunities for further development. We believe that our franchises are the lifeblood of our league and want to guarantee that each and every one is built for success, both in the short term and the long term.

What exactly sparked this evaluation? In recent weeks, we have been tracking online dialogues about the wants and needs of the Canadian quidditch community. It became apparent that there is a desire for more opportunities to play the sport during the summer months. After further discussing this idea with Yara Kodershah, QC Executive Director and Toronto Raiders Head Coach, we decided it would be a missed opportunity if we did not inquire, once again, about interest in the introduction of MLQ franchises in this part of North America.

For the next 30 days, we will be reaching out to individuals and USQ/Quidditch Canada teams in a selection of areas to assess their ability to form and maintain an MLQ franchise. We will be using direct contact and surveys to assess these locations for a similar list of traits to existing franchises. We will be using this survey to gather as much information as possible.

We feel strongly that, in order to continue to move our sport and our league forward, we cannot rest on our laurels. By constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation, we have expanded what quidditch can be. We hope that, with continued evaluation of North American quidditch, we can do more of the same, continuing to improve on the product we are so proud to deliver you each season. As always, we are incredibly thankful for your trust and support as we move forward!
