The Phoenix Sol will forfeit their series on July 9 against the Salt Lake City Hive due to a lack of available players. All three matches will be considered 60*-0 victories for Salt Lake in the league’s standings as outlined in the MLQ Forfeit Policy.

“Due to our undersized roster and associated injuries, we have elected to forfeit,” said Phoenix Manager Brentlee Cass. “This time will allow us to regroup and better prepare ourselves for the remainder of the season. We do this with only the safety of our players in mind, and still look forward to competing against the Los Angeles Guardians next month.”

No further penalties will be placed upon the team by the league. The Sol are still scheduled to play the Guardians on Aug. 6 and travel to the MLQ Championship on Aug. 20-21.

“We commend Phoenix for doing their best to succeed under difficult circumstances,” said MLQ Co-Chair Ethan Sturm. “I was incredibly impressed with what I saw from the team in their opening series and I am confident we will see the same type of dedication and effort moving forward.”
